HIGH PROOF TOOLS & LINKS
We love sharing new tools and tips with our readers. If you have a tool or link that you think is worthy of sharing, be sure and drop us a note so we can share the love!
I was sitting in a lunch and learn the other day and the presenter was talking about goal setting and accountability. He said that what you measure, gets improved. I’ve heard it said in other ways such as what you focus on expands, etc. Simply put another way, you don’t know where you need to go until you know where you are. Many of us are operating a website and for two decades Google has been providing Google Analytics to help website owners understand their site visitors and traffic. A few years ago they “upgraded” the system and in my opinion they overcomplicated things. I still run Google Analytics, but I also have been using Fathom Analytics and it is my day to day go to that provides me with the important info I need with a quick snapshot. For me the best part is it is no fuss and easy to use.
Digital business cards and even mobile friendly link directories are becoming more and more important tools to gather and curate information to drive our customers and want to be customers too. A few years ago I started using a company called Campsite.bio that I’ve been really happy with! This is the same tool that I use for my personal digital business card site as well as our lightweight landing page for Real Estate Distilled to direct people to info about the podcast, applying to be a speaker, nominating someone for an award, etc. Check out the example at https://hello.realestatedistilled.com
You know it, I know it. Everyone knows it. But that doesn’t change the fact that you still will click on that “little play button” on a video in an email. Most email clients do not allow for videos to play directly in the email, so a thumbnail of the video is typically used. Adding a "play” button on top of that image though helps create more clicks to the video. Needing to add a video thumbnail to one of your next emails? Use this handy tool to create one in a few clicks!
THE CELL PHONE WARS
I have always been an Android owner. I guess that isn’t 100% accurate. I’ve owned OTHER phones, but I haven’t owned an iPhone as my primary phone. Over the years I’ve flirted with the idea of getting an iPhone, but the pain and idea of learning a new platform and the possibility of regret have always kept me in the Android camp.
Last summer I was on a cruise ship in the middle of the Caribbean and my father had a heart attack. The cruise line has a special agreement that allows iPhone users the ability to send messages through the iMessage network.
Thankfully we were traveling with Liz’s family and my brother-in-law has an iPhone and was able to relay updates to me from back home. That was a tipping point for me. A few weeks ago my dad and brother converted to iPhones. Assuming the experiment goes well, I anticipate that my mom will switch over next.
I’ll have a decision to make sooner than later. If you made a switch I’d love to hear about your experience. Any regrets?
