COFFEE IS FOR CLOSERS
In 2020 I attempted to execute a pie day for the first time after sitting on the sidelines and not doing one. I kept kicking myself for not doing it and I decided that I wasn't going to let another year go by without getting on the pie day train!
So in 2020 I worked to execute my first event. Most people would have considered it a success. However, I found the logistics of a pie day frankly a pain in the ass.
Pies couldn't be stacked more than 2 high before they started crushing each other. Some of them needed refrigeration. They had a relatively short shelf life. So after about a week if it wasn't ate, it was bad.
I decided in the spring of 2021 that I was going to do something different and began researching other options. For a bunch of reasons, Liz and I landed on a coffee brand that could be an extension of my brokerage's brand.
My brokerage is called Finish Line Realty and in 2021, we launched Starting Gate Coffee and our Super Hi-5 blend. We stayed with our race horse theme with our branding elements.
Now when I go on a listing appointment, I bring coffee. If I get a referral from across the country, I send coffee. Pie Day? Nope! We give out coffee! Coffee is shelf stable, can be thrown in a box 10 high, and doesn't go bad for MONTHS.
It also has a higher perceived value than the $10 pie that someone could have bought themselves at Costco. You CAN'T go to the store and buy our coffee.
